Twitter Pet Peeves

Nobody's perfect. We all have our flaws and bad habits, even when it comes to Twitter. It only just hit me a few weeks ago that I was becoming one of those annoying people on Follow Friday who merely lists out some random Twitter handles and throws a #FF on the end and calls it a day. Tsk tsk, not good. But lately I'm not the only one forgetting basic Twitter etiquette. Below is a list of my top five biggest pet peeves on Twitter:

1. Don't have 3,842 followers on Twitter and only follow 12 yourself. The point of Twitter is to be engaging, so make sure you're playing along. Be mindful of the gap between your followers and who you're following, and vice versa. The number don't have to be identical but they should at least be in the same realm.

2. Don't use an automated DM for people who follow you. It's impersonal and annoying to no end. (Unless, of course, it's an instant offer for $50 off your next purchase - i.e. @apartstyle - in which case I'm not complaining.)

3. Don't split your tweet into multiple posts. That's what a blog is for. Feel free to sign up for one.

4. Ease up on the hash tags. I'm going blind trying to find the link in between all those ######s.

5. Don't tweet and drive. Extra emphasis on the DON'T. It's amazing how many people tweet about traffic and whine about other drivers while on the road. When I read tweets like those, all I do is judge you. #justsaying

What are your biggest Twitter pet peeves? Are you guilty of any of the ones above?
