Social Media Sharing of Tomorrow

David Wald (Legendary Branding) suggested that I do a blog post about "tomorrow", because that's what people are interested in. I agree, so here's where I think the power of social media /sharing is heading tomorrow.
A few of us at the office were talking with James Bull about his recent trip to SXSW. He was mentioning the buzz there around smaller more private social media sharing sites. One I've recently come across is PATH. It's a little like Instagram and Twitter had a baby, with the main difference being a sharing limit of 50 friends and family.
Confession. I'm not on facebook and I've avoided going on facebook because I was never comfortable with posting images and status updates knowing that it could be viewed by anyone. ( I know there are security features but no one ever gets them right and then the next thing you know some crazy person from your past is showing your Hawaii vacation photos with someone you don't even know. )
I think this smaller circle of sharing is where things are heading. Of course it's not for the Narcissist among us, but I'm sure they will be too busy planning staged photo shoots to broadcast on their regular social media channels to notice that things are changing.
PATH positions itself as "The simple and private way to share life with close friends & family". I think that this type of shift in privacy control is going to be seen more and more.
So check out Path.com and download the app - tell me what you think. Just don't ask me to join you.
