Feeding the Agency Blog

There has been a lot of discussion at FLIPP about our blog - 'Who Wants To Know?' What's the strategy with this blog? Who's our audience? Are we targeting new business? And more importantly; What the hell am I going to write about next?.

Not too long ago we launched our new site and our blog. The idea was to open up the forum for 'water cooler' talk about anything you'd like to post. We did not limit the topic list to interactive or marketing and we did not limit the contributers to english majors. ( A special thanks to those who have gone out of their way to point out the most mundane of grammar issues.) If you wanted to write about movies, music and entertainment, go for it. Games, videos, sports or life-style... all open game, just make sure you contribute. As content was generated we would categorize the postings and see what we had on our hands. You could say the strategy was to experiment. What's the worst that could happen?... no one reads it? To date we've had some great articles and stimulated some interesting conversation, but continuing to feed the blog has become somewhat of a chore... it's always hungry and there is always something more important to do.

I think it's important that our blog not become a blatant agency type authority blog that screams "we're doing this for new business". It should remain an open feed of consciousness from FLIPP as it's the diversity in our group's skills, interests and passions that makes FLIPP such a great place. In order for our blog to take that personality on, it needs to be fed on a daily basis.

So in the quest for blog content (and to lead by example), I'm posting a challenge to myself. I will make a post to the 'Who Wants To Know' blog every day for the month of May. I'm not promising that it will be interesting but it will be daily. What's the worst that could happen?... no one will read it?  So see you tomorrow, I have no idea what I'm going to write about.

Having trouble feeding your Agency Blog? Share your pain here. Have ideas as to what I should write about? Please let me know.
